Re: D tinctorius True Sipaliwini lines and management

Interesting reading for a newby. The question I have, coming from a tropical fish background, is there no DNA work being done with frogs? This discussion parallels so many I've read about rainbowfish sp. But without DNA evidence, or a direct trail to one of those who physically brought them back fro...

That's about what I said to my wife when I first shined my light on it. A few more expletives. I'm thinking Phoneutria boliviensis.

Re: Costa Rica, the Osa!

:) I have lots of photos, but unfortunately that's it for dart frogs. It was very dry and more than a little disappointing in that respect. I have some other herps and plnats & habitat that I'll gladly post if you want. Quite a few of birds and mammals. These were taken at Hacienda Baru. A resor...

Re: Costa Rica, the Osa!

Haven't had much internet access. Now that I'm home I'll get things sorted and have a few more pics. It was disappointing in the herp department. Too dry, bad timing. But not a total loss. The guided hike was good. Granny was seen in the morning but we couldn't find it in the afternoon. Guides said ...

Re: Costa Rica, the Osa!

Very, very dry here! Dusty dry! Not found much in the reptile/amphibian class as of yet. These pics were taken at Leona lodge at the edge of Corcovado park. On one of their trails, steep, maybe 300 meters climb above sea level. I have a guide arranged for this afternoon and evening so maybe better l...

I joined fieldherp Jan 23 and still haven't heard from them. Maybe mods on vaca?
Byron I haven't received a pm from you. I don't know what data I can collect for you while in C.R. but let me know what you're thinking. I will take lots of pics of course.

Are you sure they're dead? They can seemingly disappear in a viv.

Re: I finished my viv!

Java moss, I just rinsed it and placed a few good sized clumps around the tank. Clumps dense enough to hold some moisture. I made an effort to keep it moist for a while until it took off. Now it's going wild. It looks quite different than submerged in the fish tank, lighter green and stringy. Not su...

Re: Costa Rica, the Osa!

Going with the wife. She's Thai so not new to jungle and its amenities. :) I drug her around a good bit there searching for fish sp. The Osa is remote and I'm not completely sure how she'll react to being so isolated for five or six days, but that's the point of this trip. It's been a rough Winter f...

Costa Rica, the Osa!

Hey folks, I'm flying to CR for a mental cleansing next month. We're heading for the Osa to unwind in paradise. I have a few days unaccounted for and would love to hear any froggy recommendations from anyone who's been there. Should be auratus around but would love to see granulifera also. Thanks! Jim

Re: Can we recommend 10 gallon tanks AT ALL ?

I assume you're referring to the thread on the other channel, I said all I care to. Let them argue about who has more weight to throw around. I haven't visited the thread since my last reply two days ago. I saw a pissing match coming and I'm not interested. I got a pm from one of the participants an...

Re: My house temp stays at 68

My living room is kept around 65. I have an LED fixture full time and CF fixture that I use about half of the time, mostly to supply heat. The temps in the viv vary from 67 at the foor(lowest temp) to upper 70s at the top. I throw a small blanket over the viv at lights out to hold the temp overnight....
