Re: Frog update

So I need like a power sprayer for clean up times? My man friend keeps teasing me about my invisible frogs. I kicked him in the shins...not really...but I wanted to. He actually got to see one of them the other day. He said, "That's it? All your work and money? That's the frog?" I said, &q...

Re: Frog body language ?

Craig, from whom I got my dfs says 2-3 more months until sexual maturity. This is way worse than fish as far as waiting. Although, they sure are cute.

My BF finally saw one and said, "You paid how much for that?" I said, "Less than that last fancy goldfish...that died.

Frog body language ?

I am wondering if there are any body language guides for dart frogs. My one juvie is always out front of its hidey hole which is down in the leaf base of the largest brom. His head well up in a stiff stance. I am assuming this is an on alert posture. The other two seem less stiff. So is this the beh...

Re: Frog update

The little orange frog was out today. It was on the brom in which I always find what I think of as the male of the two yellow and black frogs. The yellow "male" was down low looking up at his brom. Here's a blurry pic of the orange one. I have no smart phone. Only a dumb old dig camera. ht...

Re: Frog update

I for sure hope it finds a mate among the other two. That's some survival genes I want in my df's pool.

Cool name as soon as I know it's sex.

Re: Frog update

Crazy! Crazy! Crazy! I was just moving a large plant that I over wintered inside to my porch. I was wrangling it off the water catcher bottom plate onto my dolly when I spotted a large spider...but...it was my orange rio branco dart frog that escaped a month ago!!! Don't you have a happy dance icon?...

Re: Frog update

No calling and they are still shy. I called the duller colored one Mugwump (after the mean Huron in "The Last Mohican". That probably isn't the right name but it works for me. It was just sorta a dull color.) So one is a bright yellow on black with a spot of yellow on his neck. My little M...

Frog update

Rio brancos update. I just looked for froggies and they were both down in a leaf of one brom together. I did a double take! One on top of the other. I'm taking this as a good sign. Have I gotten lucky enough to get a pair? For what else should I be looking or listening? Their coloring is changing so...

Re: I get my froglets tomorrow!

Frog update. I see my frogs the day after they have been fed...so every other day. Each hangs out in a brom on opposite sides of the viv. They look healthy but are still shy. The viv looks like a jungle, which is probably good for them but bad for viewing. It's been over a month since I got them but...

Tricks on how to transfer ff's into new containers?

Okay, so my dear friend Vann stops by for our monthly happy hour. We are just chit-chatting away when I notice a ff crawling across her eyelid... Really! Is this my life now? Guests infested with ffs? Egad! I go to her and explain nicely as I squash it, you have a wingless (??? really?) ff on your e...

Re: I get my froglets tomorrow!

You should feed dusted flies every other day. For two small froglets, try for about 50 flies at a time. Some will die, or hide and not be eaten. If you see a lot of flies crawling around the viv after the 'skip day' , then adjust and cut back a little. Frog report: I fed your recommended amount of ...

Re: I get my froglets tomorrow!

Disaster. I lost one of my froggies. It just disappeared from it's quarantine tub. Guess I got rid of too much of the tighten tab. I thought the brick on top would make the top be too snug for escape. Not. I have not found it anywhere. My dog denies killing it and disposing of the body. She is jealo...

I'm offically a herpsomething

Today, I think I am officially a herpien...no wait that means a creep..well that might be true. A herpetoaficionado? A herpetological enthusiastette? Ha ha. Okay, so I went to my first herp show. Pretty cool but not many dfs. It was Oklahoma City's first show. Not a real good turn out but it was a s...

Re: What's this 'Bio-Active' stuff ???

I think it is a newish term and concept for snake and lizard keepers. They are just now figuring it out. In every hobby where you create a biotope for any species, it requires the most natural way to keep the habitat clean. Starts from the bottom up.
