Re: Bromeliad Data Base - Huge !

This is a great resource to view photos of bromeliads across all of the different genera. However, just because it is on that site does not mean thats its available here in the US. Often times the hybrids are from growers overseas and are hard to find here in the US if not non existant here in the s...

Re: 18" Cube featuring Brazilian biotope & fake rock backgro

This one will not have frogs at all.

It has been coming together. But I just discovered what I believe are thrips on my Ruellia! It is so frustrating. You put in so much effort and then some stupid insect messes it all up!

Re: 18" Cube featuring Brazilian biotope & fake rock backgro

Thank you. I did not do the rocks myself. I ordered them. Im very happy with the quality of them and how easy they were to install. I did the arrangement myself (That was a little difficult with a couple of the rocks.) And foamed them in place. Everything between the rocks is your typical Great Stuf...

Re: 18" Cube featuring Brazilian biotope & fake rock backgro

A simple system for drainage. Just a simple piece of pvc with a cap. I drilled several small holes at the base of the pipe to allow water to enter into the pipe from the drainage layer. Siliconed the pipe in place. Now when the drainage layer gets full I just remove the pvc cap and use an aquarium s...

18" Cube featuring Brazilian biotope & fake rock background

Hey guys, I thought I'd share one of my recent projects with you! The tank is an 18" ZooMed cube. I used 8 fake rocks for the background and filled the gaps with the standard Great Stuff/coco fiber method. I picked a plant that I really wanted in the tank which was Selaginella SP 'Brazil'. And ...

Re: Begonia Plants for Vivariums

No clue what that Begonia is Phil. I would like to state that Begonia rex and most of its progenies get quite large. Even if their leaves stay somewhat small and their height is of short stature.. they can be quite invasive. I do not believe many Begonia would be used for egg laying for larger speci...

Re: Stu & Shaz's Dart Frog Room

I agree, at one point I was all about seeing how many different plants I could get in one viv but over the years Ive calmed down alot. Also noticed that I seem to go with alot of plants with interested leaf shapes and maybe only 1 plant in each viv has a flashy pattern. the rest are either greens, b...

Re: Dendrobates tinctorius 'New River' vivariums

I got almost all the carving done and am about to start the silicone part but unfortunately during carving a few holes were revealed so I need to fill those first. Currently the coco is expanding and I expect to finish this ...

Re: Dendrobates tinctorius 'New River' vivariums

I dare say the vivs will be amazing looking when they are finished. I havent had time to work on them much this weekend. Carved a little bit of the foam in both.. probably still got a little carving in each then I need to set up the coco fiber for drying out and maybe do a little of the silicone eac...

Re: Stu & Shaz's Dart Frog Room

AWESOME! Are they some locale of Yellowback?
They look slightly different than our Saul YB and slightly off from the Monts Attachi Bakka as well.
