Re: Salamander Chytrid ban -are frogs next?

The difference here is that Bsal has not been found in the US, whereas Bd has been documented throughout the US. Halting salamander imports makes sense from a disease control perspective.

1st instar grain mites can be as small as 0.07 mm, At that size they are perfectly capable of working their way through a fabric lid.

I've seen maggots chew through the fabri-cote lids when the culture was kept too moist (fabric in lid is moist).

• Morph - For Frogs, "morphs" are naturally occurring populations in the wild with general physical characteristics (pattern, color, size) - not man-made, selective breeding, and not the "simple genetic morphs" like in the snake or lizard hobby. For our purposes, albino is a gen...

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

There is one big difference. Dillion is an 18-20 year old kid living at home with I would imagine no bills other than maybe a car payment. If it were only Dillon. But it's been fairly apparent that Rick is actually running this operation and here's what he had to say on the other board: I am an IP ...

Re: New supplement(s) to add to FF Media

28 years!!!! Congrats!!!! I admire anyone that can stick it out for that long. Since the study was geared towards enriched FF media, I think the study would have been more compelling if the supplements were omitted for an established period of time for both groups. I know that many hobbyists supple...

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

All I keep thinking about is how many ... Yeah, me too. We need to actively discourage not only hobbyists but also anyone who they may be trying to wholesale to. I'll be letting several businesses know if they attempt to resell frogs from this breeder, they will lose me and my friends as a customers.

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

Maybe Rick will realize he's lost this one before it's too late for him financially. If I were him, I'd liquidate it all and buy some pythons with that money and then go try to compete with Bob Clark maybe? Unfortunately, even if he were to liquidate it all, the frogs will still wind up in the hobb...

Now they've changed their "expert resources" page again. References to Lotters and the picture of the page in the book have been removed.

No worries. I've got captures of both

Rick, Here are some related Lotters publications which contain information which further debunks your misinterpretation of Lotters et al. Poison Frogs: Biology, Species & Captive Husbandry Wollenberg K. C, M. Veith, B. P. Noonan, S. Lötters (2006). Polymorphism versus species richness – Systemat...

Hey Rick, Despite the fact that I've already given up nearly two days of my own LEGITIMATE research debunking the crap that you are spewing, I'm going to stay on top of this topic like flies on shit, or Ted Cruz on Obamacare, or Rich Frye on Sydney ... In other words, it's going to be a long, long t...

Go to your local university biology department ... there always seems to be an overabundance, especially in the genetics labs. My department has at least 100 containers in the store room just collecting dust and the pile grows weekly.

Tinctorius were one population originally and over time with mountain and river barriers which divided the original population these new phenotypes developed. Not the other way around. That was the part of his reply that totally drove home the fact that he had no clue and made me totally give up on...

Holy crap, it's obvious that you're a lawyer (and not a biologist). Nearly everything in your post clearly demonstrates that you are not literate enough in evolutionary biology and population genetics to understand the literature. There is really no point in making a point by point response, because...

Oh for cripes sake, now we're trademarking research? Well ,that's an insult to those of us who actually carry out real research. Not to mention the fact that it screams out "bias". I've got to get away from this thread. My head hurts from bashing it against my desk ... Luckily, I think we ...
