Re: Poll - Is Keeping Frogs considered 'Manly" ?

Very rarely does a kid impress me with their dart frog knowledge. That little girl knew her stuff! Most of the time it's can i hold them and are they poisonous... The toughest guy I've seen at a show was a 12-13 yr old girl that was grilling Casper for about 10 minutes on husbandry. It was a sight t...

Re: Multispecies (frogs and lizards ect) Vivarium Reference

Didn't say I recommended it and no way in hell would I want tribs with them. Plus not many folks work with them so they are kind of hard to find on a regular basis.

This was one of the vivs that I was given with these words "give them a good home"

Re: Multispecies (frogs and lizards ect) Vivarium Reference

I actually got the whole setup from Cindy when she left the hobby. I'm guessing it has been up and running for 10 years+ Nope on those being the geckos around the house. A snippet from wiki "The mourning gecko or common smooth-scaled gecko (Lepidodactylus lugubris) is a species of gecko. This s...

Re: repticon dallas next month?

The one a few months back only had 4 or 5 venders and only s&s had darts. What kind are you looking for? Lots of great breeders in the metroplex that just may have what you are looking for.

Unfortunately I also think they will be around for a while due to some of those reasons. Plus add a father/ lawyer with $ who want to prove something.

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

No underground exists in the dart frog hobby. The only people that ever produced hybrids are Troy, Jelly, Swirly, and Washers. The only frog species in the US are the ones available on the forums. No one keeps anything not available thru forum members. Now, are those 17 frogs raised in a 5 gallon b...

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

I check the site daily but over the past year have chosen to stay out of the arguing and answer emails and PM's from the underground. Sure some people are thin skinned but thick or thin who wants to be yelled at because of a hobby? There are "undergrounds" in every hobby. That is until sa...

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

Casper, Your talk of how many frogs I have in my tank is pointless. I see breeders cramming frogs into tiny tanks and deli containers all the time. I don't see you picking on the pig farmers of the dart frog hobby? I understand what you are saying though and Yes I would prefer they had more room, b...

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

If you werent worried about hybrids it wouldn't have to be alone. Oh well. At least he's able to be displayed or sold without people wanting to euthanize him and causing a scene. Matter of fact I have an auratus that I don't know what it is, he will forever be alone and he will not leave his viv un...

Different? Yes, but the point is the same. If someone knows that the majority of the folks that are going to read your add are not going to approve of it , you better have thick skin.

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

So your saying your reactions are genetic, bred into you for millions of years to exclude people who aren't like you but aren't harming you? If your rationalizing that's just the way it is and it'll never change then my talk is done. Ummm what??? What reactions? How the hell am I rationalizing? I'm...

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

People join forums, get jumped on for doing what they want not hurting anyone else, forums suffer lack of participation and wonder why, someone tells them and gets jumped on, makes sense to me. When you know said forums don't like what "you want", find a forum that supports "your wan...
