Re: Convince me not to give up hydei

I agree Phil, the melanogaster for me,produce as well if not better than the Turkish gliders.I also agree with Josh H. on the Golden Hydei -they seem to out produce the Black Hydei by a fair amount. The thing I dislike about Hydei is the stench period they go through about a week before morphing out!!!

Re: rapashy bug burger vs. rapashy morning wood

Hey Walt! Depends what you are feeding.I like the morning wood for my isopods-man do these guys eat this stuff up! They will also eat the bug burger-just not with as much gusto! I use the bug burger on my springtails with good results! These are great products!

Re: Shipping right now.

I would not use a shipping type heat pack inside of the styro! Instead, use on the outside of the styro, between the inside of outer cardboard box!. I also like to use a slightly oversized box to ship during the cold months .That way I can add more insulating items inside the box to protect frogs. The ...

Re: Azureus (two baby blues) for sale

Beauiful little frogs, buit you might want to wait till they are a bit older to sell, imo! They are much hardier and wont stress out as easily if you wait a few months,2 months minimum. Good luck!

Re: Culture crash...in 18 hours?

Could be too many flies in culture, and die off because of ammonia build up.Are these melanogaster,or hydei? I would not worry that the frogs would be affected by the ff's. I like my ff's out in the open, not in dark closed cabinet.and kept in ambient room light,on mite paper.Dust ff's w/calcium just ...

Re: Retic (Albino) Meets Michael Jackson

Hey Phil,i have a pair of UE Retics that produce very well for me.The hardest part is keeping them in enough springtails for the first 3 months or so.This pair actually has,as of today 2 eggs in viv,2 tads almost ready to leave gel mass, and 3 tadpoles in film canisters. They are somewhat under apprec...

Re: Best enclosure to use... Any thoughts?

Alot of it really depends on what species of dart frog you will be keeping. Exo Terra makes a good glass terrarium that comes in many sizes-a few adjustments can be made to make it a really nice properly set-up home for your frogs, especially covering screen top with glass to keep in humidity. If you...

Re: Exoterra Styrofoam Background ok to get wet ?

What i have been doing ( after finding a home for styro backround ) is to keep it simple and cut to size enough cork flats to cover back glass fairy well and silicone the back of cork to glass and cure a few days. Then fill in the gaps between cork pieces and around top/side edges with wet ( then squ...

Re: Suction cups - Good source ?

I have found that whether clear or black they both work well if they are made of quality rubber/plastics. I purchased in bulk from Joshs Frogs ( a clear type) . After 1 year or so still holding up well ! Good Luck!

Re: Tank for new frogs

You can keep 4 leuc froglets in a 10 gallon for a little while-maybe till they are half grown, but no longer than that. A 20 -30 gallon size aquarium would be more to their liking. No need for a tall aquarium-they like to spend their life on the ground! Good Luck!
