Mystery plant growing out of hardwood..
Hey guys.. hoping someone might be able to help me ID this plant. I noticed it a couple days ago.. it was just a tiny green shoot. Now I see it's developing leaves. It's growing out of a piece of Mopani wood, in a spot that gets a fair amount of light if that matters. It's maybe 1/2 an inch tall and...

Re: Custom ledge background build
Thanks Jim. I've been wanting moonlights for a while now.. just wasn't sure what to use w/ this size tank. My viv is in my basement on full display (our basement is like our living room) so I'm thinking the brighter, more spotlighted effect will look great. Thanks again for the detailed info.. great...

Re: Custom ledge background build
Awesome stands.. and I love those moonlights! You have me seriously inspired for my next viv. Do you mind sharing what type and how many blue LEDs you're using?

18" x 18" x 24" Shadowbox Viv w/ Frogs
Wanted to post an updated pic of the viv, outside of my build thread. I had to make some major changes with a few of the plants. This is the first time I've ever grown plants in a viv, so it's been a lot of trial and error. But I'm glad I did make changes.. this looks so much better. I pulled the bu...

I like them. That's all I'll say on the matter.. in fear of being condemned or blacklisted
. The whole vibe of this hobby.. is very different than that of the hobby I'm coming from.
P.S. I do not plan to own anything but wild-type darts. No worries.

Re: Green and Bronze vs. Highland Bronze
Thanks guys. I'm sure some of these frogs are mislabeled at times too.. I know coming from the snake hobby, similar-looking locality animals are often named according to what is most popular or more expensive at the time, or just quickly named based on general appearance rather than the truth behind...

Re: Been Working Hard..
Thanks guys! Jim.. after I uploaded it, Youtube asked if I would like it to correct the shakiness (the video was definitely shaky originally). That feature is nice.. made the video very smooth for me.

Re: custom ledge background build
Looks great! I love the depth.. causes the eye to look around more.. and makes the viv look bigger than it actually is. I attempted to create the same "illusion" with mine.. love it.

Green and Bronze vs. Highland Bronze ?
I love these auratus and would eventually like a trio. But I'm not sure which type to look for.. I'm seeing photos and videos of both Green and Bronze and Highland Bronze that look very similar. Do both types vary in appearance quite a bit? From what I see, the Highland types tend to have a brighter...

Re: Been Working Hard..
Not a whole lot different from yesterday.. did add a few plants and another cocohut. Moved the microgramma down.. the light was hurting it a bit I think. I have two 12watt jungle dawn LEDs on this viv and they are super bright. I'm hoping it will be happier in the shadier spot. Also got a better at ...

Re: Been Working Hard..
Still waiting on a few more plants.. but here's what I've done so far: http://gfssiconstrictors.com/images/planted1.jpg http://gfssiconstrictors.com/images/planted2.jpg I might rearrange the floor a bit.. I have a nice brom coming that needs to fit in there somewhere. It's not as crowded as it looks...
