Re: Deciding on first frog species (experience, info, help)

I had a group of El Cope that were in a viv with lots of cover. I hardly ever saw them. A friend of mine has a group of of them with very little cover and they stay right out in the open. Tincs are much bolder, in my experience.

Re: Dendrobates tinctorius "Robertus"

Sounds like a good plan. :-) Glad your Robertus are producing regularly now. Kinda weird coincidence. I have 8 red galacts I'm going to be moving soon into a 67 gallon 24x18x36. I have dibs on 2 more, I'm wondering if I'm pushing it by putting that many frogs into that size of an enclosure. What are...

Re: Dendrobates tinctorius "Robertus"

You are taking a real risk of shutting down egg production. I would wait till you get them into a dry season, no?

You don't think you are being impatient? These are wild frogs after all.

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

I think Aaron and Dave are on the same page more than they might think. By the contentious tone of the last few posts, it may be hard to see that.

Re: 2ndAnnual Reptile and Amphibian Law Symposium & Workshop

I'm sure I would agree with many "why" reasons. The challenge is the how. What many of us wold like to see is just pie in the sky. Not feasible.

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

I agree with your goal, but I don't think you could possibly get someone is who is a Facebook user to simply "STOP using facebook". I think you would have better results by participating in Facebook in the frog groups. I started one for Chicagoland. It's been a great tool. I saw some advic...

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

They ran out of significant types. First the number of new species dropped off, then it was the number of new varieties. People thirsted for new stuff, but it was very infrequent. Then the hybrids started to gain a foothold.

It will happen with dart frogs.

Re: "Hybridizing”,Cross-breeding and Mixing Dart Frogs

I agree with you Phil, but consider this. I was a cichlid hobbyist for many years. The sentiment we share with with frog hybrids I also shared with other cichlid hobbyists. As less new and interesting cichlids were being imported from the wild, it all changed. Hybrids which were disdained before, be...

Re: wanted-highland sirensis/standard lamasi

$82.50 each in Europe. Josh's Frogs are selling them right now for $200 each (when you buy 2 or more) and two that went up for auction on their FB page the other day went for less than that. I don't think you can sell them now unless you have them priced under $200 each. Phil might be right with his...

But also more enjoyable for me. If I'm sitting at the level of the viv, the light is diffused.

I think you may have missed my post. "It it makes for a much more enjoyable viewing experience when you are at eye-level of the viv. I also think the frogs appreciate it." Or am I missing the question you are driving at? :-)

Re: UVB Light - its pros/ cons

Sure. It's a specialty item and you will need to go to a glass shop to get it. It's acid etched. It's much more expensive than regular glass. You place the smooth side in the tank and the frosted part facing up. You should avoid touching the frosted part with your fingers, as the oils from your hand...
