Re: Making money in the Dart Frog Hobby ?

My guess is it would end pretty rapidly in a deadlock where most people were trying to sell only extremely prolific common frogs, and buy only expensive obligates, with the rest being sold under a different name in the open market.

Re: plants

Another possibility is to root your plants in sphagnum moss stuffed into net pots (as used for hydroponics, etc.) You can either sit these on top of the substrate, or shove them down in, but either way they're easy to yank out and put in another container for easy moving, etc. You could also conside...

Re: Plant Search - Local to DFW would be nice

If you don't mind a bit of postage, BonnieLorraine is selling 5 broms for $25, your choice of small, medium or large on her ebay store - http://www.ebay.com/sch/verdantvivariums/m.html -- it's also probably worth asking her about anything else you're looking for as she does a ton of ferns and other ...

Re: Plant Search - Local to DFW would be nice

Plants and Planters in Richardson is probably your most reasonable bet for broms (you can usually find fireballs and other common neos there with a dozen or so pups on them), and may or may not have some of the other stuff. North Haven Gardens in N. Dallas is another possibility, although they tend ...

Re: Overmisting ?

How do I know if I'm over misting? I'm sure this isn't a unanimous opinion, but unless you're going just plain crazy over-misting pretty much equals overwatering. In other words, it's a function of how well your viv drains, how fast your substrate saturates and drains, and what kind of plants you'r...

I'm going to beg to differ. Love the vinegar based BBQ sauce in the VA / Carolina region.

Kings Diner in Petersburg, VA - BBQ nirvana.

Re: Spotted a Mix (Vapor)

Dave, the "cig-alikes" still suck -- with current technology, you just can't get enough energy density in a battery in that form factor to operate an atomizer properly, plus most of them are aimed at using terrible proprietary eliquid mixes that aren't good anyway. If you get a chance, try...

Re: Spotted a Mix (Vapor)

How big is the vaping hobby now folks ? My sister wants to open a store here in Pennsyltucky. It's big in some areas, hasn't caught on much in others so far. There's decent money to be made in it, just suggest she doesn't want to get caught up in long term leases, etc. in case things go wrong. Shor...

Re: Spotted a Mix (Vapor)

I would say this hobby is about to disappear with the upcoming legalization that is about to sweep through the states. It's going to be interesting to watch, that's for certain. Big tobacco, the pharmaceutical companies and (particularly) state governments have a lot of revenue at stake (cigarettes...

Re: Microwave cork bark ?

I seem to recall some dialog where it was stated categorically that all of the cork bark had to be sterilized during the import process, so I've never worried about trying to sterilize it in my builds -- and I build with a lot of cork bark... Besides, I've got so many spiders come for escapee fruit ...
