Re: Facebook log-in through Dart Den !

I am able to 'get to' the new FB screen on my Samsung android cell phone but not my Windows PC. 'Logging in' via my cell phone = It seems like it just 'throws' me back into the Dart Den Forum with my same DD created account, and I see no real difference. I surmise that we will need BRAND new people,...

Re: UVB Light - its pros/ cons

I'll agree with the 'regular' halogen strong bulb being hot even though Roman (mantisdragon) has quite a bit of experience with all types of herps and swears by them being ok for frogs with provisions, is ponderable.

They DO make a 'tiny' 15 watt halogen UVB pucklight...

Re: UVB Light - its pros/ cons

I think a real quick takeaway, Jon, would be ....how I WOULD do it, anyway, would be to provide an unfiltered spot light of LOCALIZED UVB and put THAT on a timer for something in the neighbourhood of say 15 mins a day. Probably around 12 noon to 12:15 or 30. I would also position this small 'directi...

Re: I WANT A HEX OR BOWFRONT TANK !!!

CAN a hex tank be cool ? Sure. But... They are ALL about a million times harder to service, clean and VERY scary for escapes when you have to take the top off ect. Just like 'waterfall' advice for newbs...do NOT start off or try for a hex tank when you are new. Front opening should be the recommenda...

Sadly, as we discussed the other night, you will almost never find good updates about the new large obligates on Forums anymore. Fuckin' sad sign of the times.

Bubble tadpole ? Lump ? Just let it be. Feed the tadpole normally. Resist the urge to treat it or fuss with it. 90% of the time it will develop just fine

Re: Keeping standing water in your false bottom is good!!!

I think Ed K. went so far as to say that he would DRINK false bottom water from an established viv! I dunno If I'd go that far, but it gives you an idea on how safe the water is.

People can get so squeamish!

Keeping standing water in your false bottom is good!!!

Yep, it's not only good, but it's natural and 'the way it's supposed to be'. The water is brown coloured from the tannins and soil leaching but again, that's GOOD. If the viv is made right and the plantings aren't rotting, then the false bottom water will NOT smell bad. At the MOST, it will smell 'e...

Re: Hello from Indiana

Drain holes / bulkheads are mainly for misting systems and a lot of mist. Hand misting, you really don't need. Syphons, hand pumps and pep boys oil crank pumps are all good - no worries and lastly, a LOT of people just leave the standing water in the viv. If the viv is made right, it will not stink ...

Re: Hello from Indiana

Greetings! Do be shy - no question is a bad question. All we ask is that you read and look for a similar question / thread before starting a brand new one, as chances are, someone has been 'down that road' before and posted it here. Indiana is a good spot for fellow froggers, just be patient and you...
