Re: How many plants?

The art of planting is definitely something that is acquired through experience and getting to know individual species and their needs/qualities. I know when I first started, I would look around at tanks that I liked to get an idea of different species being used and how they grow. I'm in the camp o...

Should be fine, Jim. Though I'd keep an eye out if/when you get eggs. Highlands seem to be iffy parents at times.

Re: Thought I'd share Puerto Quito pics

Chris, the second-to-last photo captures the color the best. Imagine that red where you see orange in all the other pictures. David, I wouldn't call them shy. While they don't sit out in the open 24/7, I could grab them with my bare hands when they are out. These photos were taken in their temp tank...

Re: Legacy Frog.

Mine is R. reticulata. This species has been in the hobby since the early days and has never become common. I always wondered why until I started working with them. Last season, I pulled 30+ eggs from a pair, which became 18 tads, which became four froglets. Two (and possibly a third) of those frogl...

Re: A. galactonotus Imports to the US - CITES

Prove it.

(il)Legal export from the source country is cut and dry...no gray areas there.

Enforcement of the legality of said export in the importing coutry(ies) is where the gray lies.

Re: A. galactonotus Imports to the US - CITES

No galact (or other dart frog for that matter) has ever left Brazil legally. Period, end of story. Find proof of legal export and these number might actually mean something to your argument. These frogs were sent to Europe from the country of origin illegally where they were laundered with CITES doc...
