The last IAD was 2007 in Timonium Maryland - just above Baltimore. It was a success, IMO, but due to infighting and bickering, died that same year.
I'm thinking it should be brought back and would be willing to help make that happen.
Baltimore is a PERFECT venue. Big city with lots of great access. Sight seeing - Inner Harbour, historic, Edgar Allen Poe, Civil war stuff and the BIG one.....wait for it.....the National Aquarium ! The Aquarium is almost single handedly responsible for a huge chunk of the East Coast Dart Frog hobby , due to it's excellent frog exhibits - and they are still there. Atelopus, Tree frogs, Dart frogs. There was also a behind the scenes tour that always had 20-30 people attend. You got to see behind all the exhibits, frog breeding, temp tanks, storage, overflow, feeding, ect. You also got to go into the top rain forest are and field herp ! That's right, you and the other attendees (with staff supervision) were able to FLIP ROCKS and LOGS and find all the cool frogs and toads that are breeding and running wild in the rain forest. Huge smooth sided toads.....tons of tiny tri colors calling away and scooting around everywhere. Tadpoles in the water features.
The IAD hotel was awesome too. Large restaurant and indoor bar. Plenty of large conference rooms for vending and lectures. Not as pretty as Snug Harbour, but much more serviceable IMO.
More later....
