Aposematic Poison Frogs of the Andean Countries Book

Postby Philsuma » Fri Mar 18, 2016 1:28 pm

This book just came out and it is well worth it! It's the best thing since the Lotters book AND it has histrionica and sylvatica !!!

So very impressed by this book!

but now here comes the problem. It shipped out of Silver Spring MD by one of the authors - Ted R. Kahn I believe, but I threw away the packaging and address and cannot list where I bought it! A inter-webz search cannot find it either.

Well, we have a special deal from Ted! The book is 1.4 kilograms and over 600 color glossy pages. Ken is the senior editor/illustrator - he painted all the polytypes/morphs and currently has the rights to the bulk of distribution.
http://tedrkahnartwork.com/books/

As an incentive to buy a signed copy pre-order, only for the first 100 people who pay, folks who mention 'dartden' when they order will get free shipping in the USA and 10% off international purchase. As of today he is out of stock, but 500 books from Colombia where they were printed are expected in about a month. Standard pricing is $65. The totals including shipping are $70 domestic and $85 international for signed copies.

NOTE! The website currently incorrectly calculates shipping at $20.00 USD. To avoid that malfunction in the USA, PayPal directly at tedr <dot> kahn <at> gmail <dot> com only $65.00 (free shipping) and international orders pay only $76.50 USD (10% off).

So if you pre-order and mention "DartDen" you will get:

  • domestic $65.00 (free shipping)
  • international (outside US) $76.50 USD (10% off)

Please be patient, as Ken said in his reply to me, Sorry I do not have it in stock now but I expect to be restocked within the month or so (I'm sure your dartfrog friends understand 'South American' time is different).

This book was a big hit at the MADs show at Scott M's frog meet in Fredrick MD last Saturday. Here's the thread for those who were asking about the book.

Dang, I knew I should have ordered at least two. Same with the CvDL pumilio morph guide...SO valuable and hard to get. I wonder if Ted has any in MD or DC? I would seriously drive there and buy 3-4 to remail them to worthy hobbyists.

I bought one of Ted's great fantastica prints and am more than impressed. I probably should have just had him send me a book as well.

Funny how one can always tell the true, worthy, erudite hobbyists from the chaff, just by how excited they get over books.

I saw that fantastica print and thought that would be a near addition to the frog wall. Might need an add order :)

Now that I had time with this book I can say it's truly a phenomenal collection of information; it's beautifully illustrated with great write ups on each species. Truly impressive. Well worth the price IMO.
