What size are Imi eggs?

Postby Lady Bullseye » Sat Mar 17, 2012 9:53 pm

I've been seeing courtship behavior in my imis and realizing that I don't have much clue what I am looking for.
If I remember right from my reading, their eggs will be gray or white.
I know they should be in gel like the pond frogs I'm used to seeing.
I also think I read that these will lay (? is that what we call it?) only 2-3 eggs in a clutch.

I've seen the pics, but since they are mostly close up, or on plants etc that I have no reference to compare size.

It will be their first eggs to my knowledge when they do lay, so do I realize that the first clutches are very likely to be infertile.

Thanks Phil, I love that post! I've been through it a couple times in the past also.
Could you tell me how big the squares are on the eggcrate? I have a LECA bottom on the one I build, and eggcrate in one I bought built, so I haven't seen it to know size... I'm guessing 1"sq. but not sure...
And one last question, the first pic with eggcrate is at 8 days, have they grown considerably by then or is that about the size I'm watching for? The frogs are so small, I'm imagining almost microscopic eggs lol.

So I'm clear, the eggcrate squares are about pencil eraser size? Or you are guesstimating the eggs would be? Sorry, I keep worrying I might mist or clean them off the glass it they laid there... inexperience at it's worst I'm afraid.

yes, I see that in the photos, I was trying to use the eggcrate as something of known size, so I could estimate the size of the eggs from that photo...But I don't know what size the eggcrate squares are either. Again, sorry. I feel incredibly ignorant right now.

eggcrate/ diffusor is pretty standard - same size everywhere. You already have some eggcrate in one of your vivs that you can use as a guide.

ok. Can't see it in my viv, it's fully hidden, I'll ask the one that built it.

:) is it a race? I will attribute it to you taking such good care of them before I got them. :)
I'm sure they'll take a while to get it right anyway.
