UVB or heat bulbs needed?
#1
and if they are going to 'bask' which I have seen them do insitu many times, it's to acquire UVB for proper calcium absorption and not nearly as much to thermoregulate (get warmer). The USA hobby encourages proper calcium supplementation rather than UVB lighting which can desiccate and burn animals when employed incorrectly - especially new people. Big companies still seek to market and push bulbs for profit, but proper supplementation of fruit flies is far better imo. Proper temperature is best done by 'room' heating and not localized heat.
