Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.
If tone is more important to you than content, you are at the wrong place.

yeah...this 'symposium' has a kind of a political /lobbyist feel to it. And in DC, I guess. Lobby for imports and lobby for designer morphs ? I think there's a lot of chicken little sky is falling after the 5 big snakes got banned from FL. Frogs aren't going anywhere.

Ken is an OUTSTANDING member of the herp community. Unless you actually know the guy, don't knock him. He has done more for the hobby then many even think about doing. He may not know his frogs that well, but he means well. I've known him for years and I have never come across a person like him.

If he is that OUTSTANDING, he certainly needs to start trying to learn more a out OUR hobby and HIS frogs He continually sells.
I don't give two craps about the rest of the herp hobby. Much of the rest of the herp hobby is destroying MY hobby.

Oh yes marketing and selling hybrids does wonders for the hobby. It proves he doesn't know frogs well and it certainly proves he doesn't mean well. What he means to do is put money in his pocket at the expense of the hobby.
Let's face facts. He's a flipper. He buys animals from the importers, get them shipped to Vegas, and sells them on Kingsnake. I'm sure over the years he's had a number of rare species move through his hands, but is he doing it because he loves these herps, or because he's making money? If you're doing it for the love of the animals you wouldn't be pushing hybrids.

You gotta love that when someone who has known the guy for years says something about him, someone that has some insight, that it is thrown to the side in favor of view points supplied by very limited observations on one subject.

I don't know Ken either Justin. Not by name, reputation or word of mouth. Then again, I'm more of an East Coast guy.
You must admit, the main thing that has people riled up is the promotion and sale of the hybrid dart frogs, and not once, but at least 2 separate occasions.
Anyway...lets end the 'Ken discussion' here please, and welcome back talk on this Symposium which looks really cool.

Then defend his selling of hybrids, go ahead and justify it.
I'm not saying he's a puppy murderer. I'm selling he knowingly sells hybrids, for profit. That doesn't have anybody's best interests in mind but his own.
Ok Phil, done.
But on the subject of the symposium, since he is on the panel.
Doesn't it benefit his business to support some of the tougher restrictions on say chytrid certification to push out little hobbyists and make establishments like his the only places to buy dart frogs, even if their hybrids?

He actually replied on there that he didn't know selling hybrids was an issue, that he received these in trade (?) and that he would not sell any more in the future after he sold those.
He's actually against the Chytrid testing requirement , FYI. And things like that are actually why he is an asset to our hobby. He's done a lot of work in NV preventing exotics (including darts) from becoming prohibited. He's also doing a far amount preventing the categorical exclusion provision USFWS is trying to put into place, from happening. More then anyone on here (including myself) has!
This is what I mean, people are trying to vilify the man, heck....you're even attaching him and his biz to statements like that.
PERSONALLY, I'm for Chytrid testing requirements! At least in theory. Maybe restrict it to imports and maybe after importation. Then again, that might almost be pointless now that easy to apply and effective Chytrid treatments are about to hit the market.
