Hamburg PA Reptile Shows ?

hey guys

i had a few questions about the hamburg shows. i see reference to it quite often. having not gone to those shows myself i would like to check it out one day.

is it a high quality show with a good portion of the vendors being experienced, responsible vendors. I'd like to hear more about the quality of the shows. it's always interesting to hear the degree of professionalism as well as the experience and ethics of the vendors.

just really wanted to know if it is worth a very long trip from my house to the show next time around to check it out.

my sister lives in pittsburgh. i would throw in a visit to her for a day or two around the same time as the hamburgh show to make it worthwhile if it were a great show, but doesn't sound like it's the cat's meow. thanks.

Hamburg is still a 3 hour drive from da burgh'....

thanks phil. honesty goes a long way. at least next time i visit i know not to take the side trip if it falls at the same time.
heck i haven't even checked the show in her own town. i think its called steel city reptiles. taking a guess that would also be just an average show?

Pittsburgh draws a few vendors from Ohio and parts west, but overall....any Pittsburgh show is tiny and you'd be lucky to see more than 2 different dart frog vendors or people that even have some for sale. Mostly snakes and lizards.

i see what you are saying. i noticed you were in PA. what shows do you look forward to in your area, if any.
i noticed state to state that some have a few a year some have one per month. here we really only get the repticon shows coming through.

any shows that stand out to you as high quality shows ?

"High Quality" is a tough term to define.

I would compare the National Breeders Expo in Daytona to a High class affair...kinda like a Vegas convention.

Hamburg is in a 50 year old busted ass fieldhouse with NO air conditioning. They JUST bought 12 big fans a few months ago. The STINK combined with high temps is gross.

BUT

If you live a couple hours away....Hamburg is very good to attend as it's huge and has most everything...and even a few things we can't talk about.

Biggest East coast shows in terms of Vendors, animals and supplies offered and public attendence:

1. White Plains NY - every other month
2. Hamburg PA - every other month
3. Daytona FL.....once a year (august)

yes daytona always had a pretty good rep. that was a pretty funny description of the hamburg show.
i've been to the white plains show myself a few years back. i liked it when i went.
you would think the daytona shows in august would be too much of a scorcher. having lived in florida previously i'm not too keen on august in florida. but you definitely know it isn;t going to be too cool.....LOL... thanks again

oh yeah i know that. august in florida can be brutal as far as comfort .getting to and from the show once you get out of your air conditioned car into a building with ac. in florida during the summeri used to be in constant ac. from house to car to work to car, etc. it would be november before the ac was turned off in the house.

i was once crazy enough to do a day of fossil hunting in the gainesville area of florida in august and thought i was going to die. and i had been a central florida resident used to the humidity.

daytona at least is by the coast. i knew quite a few guys that really looked forward to vending at the daytona show each year. they all said it was a great show compared to many. i'm glad it has a great turnout each year. if it were closer i'd browse it too. next show around here is repticon this fall in columbia. i might go to check it out. thanks again
