Hey guys/girls,

I've been in the hobby for about 7 months now and wanted to show you my vivs and make a thread to post updates and progression on future projects so here it is.

Vivarium #1 (1st viv, 55 gallon w/ 3 orange terribilis)

One was out for a picture. I have calling and I have eggs, so sometime in the near future I should have some tads.


Vivarium #3 (55 vert, will be tarapotos new home when everything has established and is ready. You think they will like it compared to the wussy 10 gallon they are in next to it?)









Viv #4 (40 vert under construction, future inhabitants will be glass frogs)

Great looking vivs Josh. On the 55 vert, what is it lit with? It seems to be lit fairly well. The sulcata are awesome!

Thanks man, I got 2 6500k bulbs from menards, $10 each I think? I've had Shelly for about 10 years now, she was the size of a golf ball when I got her. And I've had New Guy for maybe 3-4 years. I can't wait to finish school up here so we can move back down south and let them roam around a back yard all day every day, I'm sure they miss it a lot.

Bumping with a few more pictures...enjoy. I don't think my collection will be growing until the June UE shipment, but you never know, my wife just picked up a 72 bowfront from a coworker and we might deck it out with cypress knees/ferns. She likes the leucs and the cypress knees will remind her of the south which she absolutely loves, so a group of those could be in our future too. 2 pics are through the glass and 2 are from inside. I'm still using my phone's camera and depending on tax season, I might get my wife a nice camera "for her birthday" since she enjoys photography See what I did there?? Frogs are doing well and the tarapotos seem to be in heaven in their bigger environment.

This was a good weekend. 2 viv projects are coming to a close quick. The 40 breeder tank's waterfall is curing now and then it's pretty much finished. The 72 bow front my wife picked up from a coworker just needs some vent work done on the top and it will be finished too. I picked up some cypress knees for that one and really like how it turned out, but it's hard to capture a good picture of it. I also installed the mistking system to them both which is a luxury I'm really liking.

After a long day yesterday and fighting a cold, this was a nice surprise to come home to. We have our first tad prepping itself to climb out of its canister Over the last 2 days I've spotted it clinging onto the can above the waterline a few times and then it will go back into the water. As you can see, it still has almost its entire tail left. There's 2 more tads that we know of, one just popped its front legs a couple days ago and the other is a couple of weeks behind the others. This is our first one morphing out ever so I'm sure you veterans probably know what it feels like having that experience. It's awesome! I've caught one of the terriblis calling a couple of times now too so I wouldn't be surprised to find some of those tads deposited in the upcoming months.

Bumpin with an update of a couple new pics. 2 imitator tads have completely morphed out and the 3rd is losing its tail. They're so TINY!

And I just thought I would post an update of the terribs viv because it has really grown in over the last 10 months. It was my 1st viv and I would've never dreamed of it looking like this when it was grown in. I was thinking about doing a timelapse of the vivs growing in over the span of 6-12 months. Have any of you ran across any threads of people making time lapse videos of their vivs growing in?

Giving a bump. Sorry if you're getting sick of just the 2 species lol when the leucs QT phase has passed I'll get some of them in what will be their final home. Also getting another new species from the UE shipment tomorrow so that will add some variation as well. AND I just received two tanks around 30 gallons each to start more fun times with and play around with some builds over the summer.

Hey Jim thanks. The quarantine is nothing special at all, a plastic tub with a small log and some fake plants. One of the 4 was calling the day I picked them up and he's the loudest frog in the house for sure right now. I'm picking up some Hyalinobatrachium valerioi so I don't know if it would be legal to post pics of those on a dart frog forum =P I'll take the risk though for you haha

Those are some sweet tanks man, I really like the look of bow fronts. I say the more pics the better so keep them coming:-)

Here you go as requested Jim =) The trio is in a 10 gallon with some papertowels and a small piece of wood and some fake plants for now. Their 40 gallon is growing in really nice and they're going to love it for sure. Right now they are about the size of my adult imitators.

Ha, it was all I had to work with after setting up the Leucs QT. I luckily found them buried in the garage in the pile of stuff to use for tanks. God forbid I would've had to go to the store and spend a couple bucks on more fake plants otherwise

Hi everyone. I'm just giving a little update w/ a couple of photos again. I had some fecals test positive for hookworm on 2 groups and the group of leucs I had recently purchased were very heavily infected, the vet said he didn't even have to do a float test on the fecals to detect the problem on those. They have been in QT since I received them so no big deal there. I'm glad I didn't just toss them in the 72 bowfront, which is growing in amazingly by the way. I am, unfortunately, having to completely breakdown, sterilize, and redo 2, 55 gallon vivs that had frogs in them but the other frogs I have picked up recently have never been in any established vivs in my house. This has been a great hands on experience teaching me about the vigilance required to eliminate cross contamination and spreading diseases. It's also been a lot of work so I'm learning to be extremely cautious to avoid having to do this again in the future and to treat each group as its own identity instead of as one big collection. I don't have enough income to test all of my groups as often as I would like, so I just decided to shotgun treat everything and start some new vivs from scratch. One perk I guess is with the frogs in the sweater boxes, it is really easy to capture photos of them. That's what I decided to do during one of the cleanings the other day.

Here's a shot of the newest imitator froglet I found inside a brom when tearing that viv apart. I also found 2 fertile eggs that are developing and 2 tads swimming around as well.



Here's another, it looks really orange and I think that might have to do with the camera flash/lighting? I don't know much about photography so I can't really say.



Here's one of the H. Azureiventris my stepson recently got while we were in Louisiana.

I thought this one was funny, it kind of looks like it has 6 legs.



Here's the glass frogs. The 2nd picture isn't really in focus very well but I thought the spots were really cool in the low lighting how they were almost illuminating like when you look through the fiber optic sight on a bow.




And 2 of the Leucs.




Here's a shot of the bowfront that the Leucs will be going in. I'm sure I'll get a ton of great pictures of them once they are in and I can zoom up on a number of different locations in the viv and get some good close up shots. I feel like this viv offers a lot of options in that area.



So yeah, I've been pretty busy and it's been a lot of work. It's going to be worth it when I'm done and as I said, a great hands on learning experience. I don't know if the bleach smell will ever leave my hands again now And on the positive side, I think I'm going to be buying my 1st rack to put the rebuilt vivs on which is going to provide a lot more pics in the future. Glad to see the azureiventris are doing well for you! I love those glass frogs.
