JUNGLE DAWN® GROW & GLOW-- a new day IS dawning on Vivariums
#1
First, I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the LightYourReptiles.com and Jungle Dawn® customers.

A "big thank you" is in order to both Wholesale & Retail Customers and the Zoos who have supported me.

It is because of YOUR BUSINESS and SUPPORT...
that LightYourReptiles.com is able to have the resources to create new things.

Thank you.

Most Sincerely,
Todd

And speaking of new things:

Now....

INTRODUCING Jungle Dawn® Grow & Glow !

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

They currently come in 2 Sizes.

The 14" 15 watt Model and the 17" 20 watt Model.

They are like a cross between a Jungle Dawn® Screw In and and LED bar!

Except they are self contained and do not need a transformer! The LED Drivers are built right inside!

The "Grow" part of these new Jungle Dawns® is all about the mixed diodes --They have separate BLUE and RED diodes to enhance color and photosynthesis in plants.

The "Glow" part is about the lights spectrum and ability to make colors seem to "POP".

And the light they give off mixes wonderfully with the spectrum from the Original Jungle Dawn® LED bulbs.
So they can be even used in conjunction with them for fantastic lighting effects.

These come with a one year guarantee on materials and workmanship.

Some things to keep in mind when using them is that they are longer than practically any other screw in out there!
So using them in hoods is something that needs to be considered.

Some hoods they will fit (tightly!) into.... (i.e. the 36" Exo Terra hood)
and some hoods may need modifications at the customers discretion to make them fit.
(Please see some examples in the pictures in the thread below.)

And please keep in mind---
AS WITH ANY LED PRODUCT--
Great care must be taken to ensure sure they have good ventilation and ample air flow (convection) around them so they stay cooler and can radiate heat properly from their ribbed aluminium body.

The cooler you can have ANY LED product running, the longer it will last.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please note:
They are NOT on the LYR web-site yet-- because quantities are so limited right now.
2 Authorized Jungle Dawn® Dealers, NE Herpetoculture and Glass Box Tropicals will have them in inventory very soon!
And many other Jungle Dawn® retailers will be offering them for sale in the coming weeks.
Please check out the pictures below and feel free to e-mail with any questions.
Thank you!
Most Sincerely,
Todd
These can be put in some types of hoods.
In the hoods, you may want to remove the metal reflectors.
(I did not in these pics... but you can Smile -- they just un-screw)
Because it allows them to run cooler....
And always remember-
anything you can do to help ANY LED Unit run a bit cooler will add to the life of the LED.
And here is a Grow and Glow in a Mini Mount Socket.
You can support the body of the unit with a Zip Tie.
Just make sure the zip tie does not touch / rub across a diode.
YES!
And these are so easy to work with!
If you do a few 1.98 plug sockets and a simple extension cord and you get allot of LED without breaking the bank!
Nice Todd! Are these a 1:1 replacement for a standard JD 13w when lighting a typical tank? Are there any hard points on the top of the heat sink that can be used as a support point? Nothing that $6 worth of epoxy wouldn't fix Wink
Looks very neat - may have to consider them for the upcoming project! Glad to see such an investment in the hobby! Yet another big step forward!
Thank you Jim!
Actually ..
on the end there is a tiny screw that can be removed (holds on plastic end cap) and a small screw eye could be added in its place to make a hanging / support point on the far end...
That is being explored along with the possibility of 22", 33" and 44 models.
Since they would need that end support IF they are "do-able" in those sizes especially. 8)
shhh!
word to ya' motha'.
Here is a sneak peak as to what they look like over an aquarium. I will post pictures today of what they look like over my escudos tank as well.
